The AM category Licence is specifically for mopeds and scooters, and allows you to ride a vehicle up to 50cc, with a maximum speed of 45km/h (28mph).

The A1 Licence is a restricted category motorcycle licence which you can take from 17 years of age.

The simplest and most common way to look at this, is as a licence for most 125cc category motorcycles.
